Practice to Deceive.jpgI wasn’t always a bad guy, but betrayal has a way of finding your darkest inner demons. Great friends and family weren’t enough to save me. I wanted revenge. When the opportunity presented itself, I felt justified. That’s karma, right?

Turns out, karma has a way of circling back.

If only I hadn’t been so stupid.

If only I’d known what my deceit would cost me.

It will take a lot of work to unravel the damage I’ve done, but I’ll do it. I’ll do anything to keep from losing her

review

Look at that face gracing the cover.  Doesn’t he look like a good guy?  Indeed.  But appearances can be deceptive – only about the character, not the story.

And what a story.  The first (and major) part of the book is about getting to the point we start the story with.  And as a narrative tool, it really works.  You know what’s coming, and yet you can’t look away.  Honestly?  I didn’t like Brennan for the entirety of the first part of this book.  I wasn’t meant to, I’m sure, but the author did a great job of turning my opinion around.

In part, that change of view was as a result of Skylar’s responses.  I really felt for that girl.  She didn’t ask to be put in the position that she found herself in, but Brennan’s attempts to atone were great to read.

A refreshing read.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
