New Release & review – Jock Road (Jock Hard #3) by Sara Ney @saraney @DaniChez75

Book & Author Details:

Jock Road by Sara Ney
Publication date: 5th August 2019
Genres: Sports Romance

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras . His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

I wasn’t sure about these two at the start.  I didn’t much care for either of them to be honest – he is arrogant and she just comes across as a “mean girl” (or at least she does to me).  And the phonetic repetition of Jackson’s words, honestly becomes a little bit of a distraction, and feeds in to the mean bit.

However, after the first few chapters, i started to warm up to this pairing.  They morphed into a sweet, tentatively intimate couple, which was adorable to see.

But the best bit for me about this story was that this was a simple, elegant love story.  No massive misunderstandings.  No forced drama.  Just relationship development, handled in a beautiful manner.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

  1. I have this one on my TBR list, but I haven’t started this series yet. I’m addicted to sports romance and I love Sara Ney, however I’ve been kind of overwhelmed lately and haven’t made this series a priority on my totally out of control TBR pile. Anyway, I’ve read mixed reviews on this book that are similar to what you said in the beginning of your review. Guess I need to lower my expectations for this book. 😐
