Darkness swept in.

Smothering everything in its inky black.

I have turned into their worst nightmares.

And I will not rest until they pay.

For everything

review

I said in my review of Cruel Fortune, that I thought that this final volume would be explosive.  And it was.  Just not in the way that I imagined it.

If I thought that book 2 was all about waiting for the other shoe to drop, that had nothing on this one.  I was constantly looking for the next betrayal, then next game to be played.  I didn’t see them coming when they happened.  And, I’m trying very hard not to give away any spoilers here, but there is a consistency to the interactions between Penn and Natalie that served as something of a grounding backdrop to all the other machinations.

Sometimes, conclusions disappoint.  This one definitely didn’t.  Very cleverly delivered, this was everything that I didn’t know that I wanted from this final volume in the trilogy.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
