Santa, Baby by Blair Babylon

Peyton Cabot hates his life: being a rock star, performing for screaming crowds, being interviewed for magazines’ hottest musician of the year articles, winning awards, and banking loads of money.
Yeah, it sucks to be him.
After every show, Peyton tags along to supper with one of the couples in the band, a pathetic third wheel. Sometimes he goes down to the hotel bar to try to hook up with a woman who is traveling for business, usually to strike out because they’re not looking to hang out with a famous twenty-something blond-haired, green-eyed hottie. Every night, he sleeps in a different hotel bed, alone.
Except on those nights when Peyton picks up the phone to call one particular woman, one who understands him like no one else, but now she won’t answer his calls.
When Peyton goes to find her, he gets a Christmas surprise that changes everything.
Five USA Today and New York Times bestselling authors have a special delivery for Christmas. Their novels feature characters from their top selling series – all announcing the birth of a new baby to bring extra joy to the holiday season. Cozy up with these amazing stories with characters you know and love for the ultimate feel-good romantic experience.
I’ve read a lot of books by this author and for me, this one feels very different in tone to any of the others.
I didn’t like Peyton as a character in the Killer Valentine books I have read. He was a bit too … smarmy. He grew on me through this book, to the point where I quite liked him. Is he my favourite? No. Not by a long shot. But the author was able to change my opinion of him somewhat, which is a testament to the strength of her character development.
AS for Raji? Well, she took over he “character I dislike” mantle from Peyton. I understand driven. I understand being judged harshly in a male dominated profession, just for being female. But I don’t understand Raji.
Given her background, I was not expecting her to be such a snob about appearances. She simply was not prepared to view Peyton as an acceptable match for her in any other way than as a secret hook up.
This was not, I’ll confess, one of my top Blair books. The way it is written, as a series of separate intimate rendezvous didn’t have the same flow as her other books. That’s not to say it isn’t skillfully crafted – of course it is. Certainly, one for your bookshelves.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning, USA Today-bestselling author who used to publish literary fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex and too much interesting plot, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance, plus wild, suspenseful thrillers, science fiction, and urban fantasy using the super-secret pen name Blair C. Babylon.
