***This book can be read as a STANDALONE***
Detective Mark Colby is used to being in charge whether it’s on the job, or in the bedroom. He knows the rules and follows them to the letter, that is until she steps into his station.
Detective Antonia Rossi has always had to fight her way to the top. Being the police commissioner’s daughter in a male dominated profession has always come at a price. When she’s assigned as Mark’s new partner, she knows she’s in for a fight. Mark’s reputation for dominance proceeds him, and he makes no effort to hide it.
Can duty override desire, or will it end in a fiery crash of wills? Sometimes the crash is worth the burn.
***This book contains profanity and sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers.***
OK, advanced warning, this book isn’t what is described in the blurb. There is another party involved in this relationship, and because I don’t generally read books of that nature, I would probably not have selected this book to review if I had known.
As a result, I really didn’t make a positive emotional connection to any of the characters nor did I understand their motivations. Although Toni maintained a professional distance initially, the other two characters really just needed to sit and have a conversation rather than adopting the approach they did.
That said, the actions of each seemed to be well observed and described, and the story flowed reasonably well, but I’m afraid that this story as a whole didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
