Romeo and Juliet, meet Bonnie and Clyde.
June Randall and Elliot “Ell” Lefavre are young bandits on the run, using their powers to commit a string of robberies along the Florida coast when they run up against the long arm of the law in the form of FBI Special Agent Scott Byerly. But when the dangerous young lovers prove to be too much for Agent Byerly, he turns to his ex-flame Sienna Nealon for a helping hand bring them down. Between the two of them, they ought to be able to give June and Elliot a run for their money.
If they don’t end up killing each other first.
The author should, in my view, be very proud of what he has produced with this book.
June & Ell are quite the couple. At points, I rolled my eyes so hard at them that I thought that I was going to get eye sprain. However, June in particular, is a great bad guy – definitely the “Clyde” in this relationship. The way she is portrayed is eerie. Her disconnect between her actions and her responsibility for the same is disturbing to read.
But it’s how close she came to being ended by a nobody; it’s the open door at the end; it’s the emotion that sets this one apart. I confess that Crane might have had me tearing up a little with this one.
Bravo Mr Crane. I can’t wait to see where you take us next.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
