Crash and burn.jpgSynopsis

Erin Michaelson’s life is a train wreck. Her baby brother parties too much, she’s holding her band together by a thread, and teaching guitar to middle school band geeks is barely paying the bills. She needs a break, a big break, a record label kind of break, not a sexy as hell young attorney chasing after her onstage alter ego, Eva James. Eva James is sexy, exciting and full of fire, but Erin isn’t truly any of those things. Not really. She’s a bit shy, and she’s been through hell. She might act like a wild vixen up on that stage, but deep inside, her heart is small and cracked. She can’t afford to give any more pieces of it away.

Unfortunately for her, Chance Walker is so freaking hot, so damn sexy, and so very persistent that she finds herself tempted to break every rule she’s got. One kiss. That’s all it’s going to take. One kiss will change everything…

*Crash and Burn is a scorching hot, contemporary, new adult romance of 58,000 words. This is a stand alone novel with a HEA.

There are good and not so good points about this book.  What we do have, is a rock star story with a bit of a break from the usual alpha male stage strutter.  There is a reasonable back story to the characters, and the author has done a credible job in creating characters with a sense of individuality about them.

Additionally, there are some genuinely touching moments during the protagonists’ interactions.  Unfortunately, the insta-love that develops is jarring and doesn’t really sit comfortably with my expectations for these characters. That said, it didn’t completely spoil the story for me.

This book just scrapes into a 4* rating for me.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

About the author

Just copy and paste the following link into your web browser:

A #1 Amazon Bestseller, M.L. (Michele) Callahan is a science fiction and romance fanatic and full time writer whose earliest movie memories are of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and light sabers. (Still waiting on Santa to come through on that one.) She wrote her first short story at age eleven about five friends who fell into another dimension and had to save the Earth – all in ten, sloppy but action packed, wide-ruled notebook pages. Her mother inspired a love of reading and writing and Michele writes seven days a week. She writes sci-fi action adventure as ML Callahan, and romance as Michele Callahan.
