HGhost Dancee had it all.
And lost it in an instant.

The night Dmitri Nazarenko won hockey’s Holy Grail, he lost more than he ever bargained for. With a world of guilt weighing him down, Dima can never forgive himself for his tragic misjudgment. Turning his body into a shrine of past mistakes, he hides behind tattoos that memorialize his failures and a beard that masks his pain.

But London Hawke sees right through him. The fiery woman refuses to pity a man like him. No stranger to incurable injuries, London lets nothing stand in the way of living her life. Seeing an able-bodied man haunted by the ghosts of his past is a surefire way to trigger her annoyance, and that’s exactly what she finds in Dima.

When they face off, it becomes a battle of wills. Their constant bickering turns to an unavoidable dance between the sheets. But she won’t accept sharing a bed with the past for long. Will Dima learn to fight his demons, or will London leave him to dance with his ghosts alone?

review

Apart from the Babcock brothers, I think that with Ghost Dance, Ms Gayle has created one of the most endearing characters yet with Dima.  The scenes with him and the baby are written very well, demonstrating the softer side of his nature, and yet they serve a deeper purpose for him.  A confessional of sorts.

And as for London?  Well.  She is most definitely not a shrinking violet.  I’m not sure that I connected with her as much, but the connection between her and Dima is explosive.

For me, there is something about their relationship which felt more real, more heartfelt than the others in this series.  This is definitely the best of the Tulsa Firebirds so far.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

About the author

catherineCatherine Gayle is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary hockey romance and Regency-set historical romance. She’s a transplanted Texan living in North Carolina with two extremely spoiled felines. In her spare time, she watches way too much hockey and reality TV, plans fun things to do for the Nephew Monster’s next visit, and performs experiments in the kitchen which are rarely toxic.

A bit more about Catherine

  • She doesn’t function without coffee. Two cups, every day, no matter what.
  • She freely admits to her crazy cat lady status. She just wishes they would all stay kittens forever. Kittens are fun; cats are sometimes fun but often fickle.
  • Her go-to writing snack? Orange gummy bears. Yes, just the orange ones. Yes, she knows it’s bad. These are especially important when she gets to those crying-and-writing moments.
  • She’s an introvert and quite possibly a hermit. If you were to arrive at her house unnanounced, you might have to wait on the porch while she gets dressed. Working in PJs is awesome.
  • She never learned to ride a bike, and she’s content to remain ignorant on that matter.
