One case. One secret. One dog.  One soul. Can transform a life forever.

FEAR consumes the quiet town of Groverton, North Carolina when seven, teenage girls mysteriously vanish – with little evidence left behind. Unfortunately, their disappearances are only the beginning…

The course of the investigation unleashes a string of bizarre occurrences only bombarding, Xandra Kallan, and her partner, Liam Hendrik with more questions. Questions, that make them rethink: everything they thought they knew about each other, themselves, and the world around them.  For them, meeting and becoming partners runs deeper than fate.

Their souls are fated, and this, gives them an unimaginable connection to the suspect.

Proving, sometimes the hardest mystery to solve is your own.

This appears to be another one of those situations where I seem to be reading a different book from everyone else.  Although not yet released, at the time of writing this review, the average rating is 4.62.  And yet, I simply couldn’t finish this book.

I enjoy a good paranormal read as much as the next person.  And for me, a good paranormal book, whilst obviously requiring the reader to suspend disbelief for a while, doesn’t do so in a way which is jarring.  I still expect the narrative to flow easily, for the story to be immersive and diverting, and to have at least some kind of connection with the characters.

Unfortunately, I found none of that in this tale.  The narrative was stilted, and the story bounced all over the place.  Ultimately, not for me.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
